Closing of Business Announcement
To My Dear Guests and Friends,
After much thought and consideration, this letter is written with my deepest regrets to inform you that I will be closing The 1819 Red Brick Inn B&B as of 2/28/25.
Back when I started this journey in 2002, I never imagined what this business would bring to my life…a new country lifestyle much different from what I was used to growing up in Queens (some of you heard the stories, “Wait, where is my mailbox? Across the road”, they say!), the Zookeeper in me and naming my chickens after chicken dishes (this was a real treat if you got to hear these stories!), got a goat and some ducks too along the way (yup, named them too, Aflac was my fave!), shared many evenings with guests around the campfire or in the parlour telling life stories while sipping wine and cheese that guests purchased from their day on the Wine Trail, said many prayers with my guests over the years, but most of all no one can ever take away the friendships I have made in this business (“Arrive as Strangers, Leave as Friends” was a sign that was placed over my front door and WOW! I didn’t realize how true that would become). THIS is the reason why this decision has been so difficult for me. My heart is heavy, you all have come into my life and home and touched my heart. It has truly been a pleasure to have met you and have you in my home, The 1819 Red Brick Inn B&B.
Times have changed, the industry is changing, and I have decided to enjoy my son’s teenage years and make more memories for us as a family.
It is not goodbye, as I prefer to say, “see you later”. I would love to stay in touch or see you if you are in the Finger Lakes Region visiting. Maybe a dinner one evening or meet you on the Wine Trail! To stay in touch, please feel free to email me at 1819rbiguests@gmail.com.
The Inn has been sold as a residence to a very special family and I know they will do great things to keep the integrity, history and charm of the Spicer-Millard House. Wishing them a happy life in the home I loved so much.
Stay tuned for my next adventure…writing that book you all want me to write, “The Life of an Innkeeper, The 1819 Red Brick Inn Memoirs”.
Be Good. Be Kind. God Bless. Stay in touch!
Love, your Innkeepers & Friends,
Wendy & Tristan Greenslade
